There are many download related extensions. And I use several of them.
The one I use most is download statusbar. It prevent the official download manager from showing and jsut use one line above the statusbar to show the download status. Basicly, that’s all I need: How many time is left before the download is finished. I don’t need a full featured download manager to help me remembering where I download that and where I put the file. Cause I have a download/temp directory and move things around after download.
Sometimes if the speed is not good enough, I use download them all. This is a multi-thread download manager and can speed up my download pretty much.
Also some small but handy tools: a script for grease monkey will direct me to my default download site. pdf download will download PDF instead viewing it in the browser, and disable targets for downloads to prevent the blank pages.
